If you no longer need Samba on your system, you can easily remove it to free up resources.
Step 1: Stop the Samba services
Before uninstalling, stop the Samba daemons:
sudo systemctl stop smbd nmbd
Step 2: Disable Samba services
Prevent Samba from starting at boot:
sudo systemctl disable smbd nmbd
Step 3: Uninstall Samba packages
Remove Samba from your system with:
sudo apt remove --purge samba -y
Step 4: Remove unnecessary dependencies
Clean up packages that are no longer required:
sudo apt autoremove -y
Step 5: Verify removal
Check if any Samba services are still present:
systemctl status smbd
Samba has now been completely removed from Ubuntu 24.04.
