How to install java (jdk 17) on windows server 2022

Java is a widely used programming language and runtime environment, essential for running many applications and enterprise tools. On Windows Server 2022, the installation process is straightforward and only takes a few steps.

Step 1: Download Java

Go to the official Oracle website or the OpenJDK website:

Choose the version of Java you need — for most modern applications, Java 17 or later is recommended:

 Download the installer that matches your system architecture (typically 64-bit).

Step 2: Run the Installer

Once the installer has finished downloading, Now, run the Java JDK installer on your system. Right-click on the downloaded Java installation file and select ‘Run as Administrator to start the Java installation on your server.

After launching the Java installer, an installation wizard will appear on your desktop. This wizard makes the process straightforward and beginner-friendly. To begin, simply click Next:

You’ll then be asked to choose a folder where Java should be installed. By default, the installer selects a standard destination. If you want to change it, click Change and browse for your preferred location. Otherwise, keep the default path and hit Next to continue:

At this stage, the installation process will start automatically. Depending on your system performance, it may take a few moments. Just wait until the wizard completes the setup.

Once finished, a confirmation message will appear on your screen indicating that Java has been successfully installed. To finalize, click Close and exit the wizard:
